Afterpay operates in the buy now, pay later space and is a similar offering to other fintechs like Affirm and Klarna; now the company has shared that they have over five million active shoppers in the US using the service at Afterpay merchant partners; in total they have nine million US consumers who have joined the platform and recently they have seen a lot of traction during COVID-19; the increase represents a 30-40% increase in the weekly run rate from January and February; Afterpay launched in the US just two years ago and has 15,000 brands and retailers that are currently offering or are in the process of offering Afterpay; The press release shares more data on their current traction.
