The Singapore Exchange has closed a deal with online debt and equity crowdfunding platform Crowdo with terms of the deal including support for raising small and medium enterprise (SME) awareness or capital funding availability in Singapore, information sharing and cross-referral of clients; similar deal terms were included in the Singapore Exchange and PwC deal with promotion of the Singapore startup ecosystem a central component of the deal. Hong Kong-listed Credit China FinTech Holdings led the launch of the fintech fund with 11 other partners that consist of central state-owned enterprises, provincial investment funds, trust and securities firms and private equity firms; financial gain was not the main motivation of the fund as the participants are looking at exposure to the emerging fintech space and possible partnerships in the future; "China's fintech sector was started later than the West's but is expanding at an unparalleled pace compared with the West," Credit China Executive Director Sheng Jia said at the opening ceremony. Australian P2P commercial property marketplace lender LendEx has appointed two new board members to its board of directors; Brian Benger will join the board with experience from consulting firm Mercer; credit market executive Kim Jenkins will also join the board; Jenkins is currently the CEO of the Australian Retail Credit Association; Benger and Jenkins join Robert Hines, the firm's chairman, as the board's non-executive directors. India will be utilizing the world's largest biometrics database, Aadhaar, to implement smart health cards for its senior citizens; senior citizens will be receiving an Aadhaar-based smart card; the cards will include information on their health, healthcare and healthcare history; the Aadhaar smart cards will also have payment processing capabilities; the government will test the use of the Aadhaar smart cards in 15 districts during the 2017-2018 fiscal year. China reported outstanding P2P loans of Rmb 920 billion ($133.5 billion) at the end of March, according to data from Wangdaizhijia; the March data shows resiliency in the industry despite new requirements for P2P lenders and caps on lending from regulators; P2P platforms have been steadily decreasing following the industry's reform, with approximately 2,281 platforms in March; yields on P2P loans have also been trending lower, with the average yield at 9.4% in March.
