Equifax Hack Should Make Regulators Rethink PSD2

Overstock.com Launching Their Own ICO

Overstock.com plans to launch their new regulated token exchange with its own initial coin offering; launched under Overstock.com's capital markets arm, tØ, the token offering will be the first listed event on the new exchange; CoinDesk reports that Overstock.com CEO Patrick Byrne said the company will be able to raise between $200mn and $500mn easily. IMF Chief Christine Lagarde Says Bitcoin Price too High

Christine Lagarde, the head of the International Monetary Fund, told CNBC that the price of bitcoin was too high but that virtual currencies should be taken seriously; “Not so long ago, some experts argued that personal computers would never be adopted, and that tablets would only be used as expensive coffee trays," she said. Taiwan Regulators Take Positive Approach to Cryptocurrencies

In a move that goes counter to the current regulatory trend the Taiwanese government has taken a positive approach to the new cryptocurrency market; "Just because China and South Korea are banning, doesn't mean that Taiwan should follow suit – there is a huge opportunity for growth in the future,” explained Wellington Koo, Chairman of Taiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission. The short-term consumer lender has originated over €5bn ($5.8bn) since launching in 2008; the company has focused on markets in Europe and the Americas; the company’s mix of funding sources includes bond issuance and bank deposits from the acquisition of TBI Bank; Moody’s also recently upgraded their corporate rating from a B2 to a B3.
