Fifth Third Bank is still planning to open 100 new branch locations across the Southeast in the next few years; the company said the plan will have some changes such as a longer timetable, changes in design and making sure all will have a drive up or walk up window; “We’ve got a lot of need for that right now,” Fifth Third CEO, President and Chairman Greg Carmichael said in an interview with American Banker. “From a design perspective, we’re going to reassess the impact that COVID-19 has when we think about future branches.”; branch traffic has dropped between 30 and 40 percent since the crisis started but they are still seeing more than 100,000 branch transactions a day.
