During the week I share the latest p2p lending news on Twitter as it happens. Then every Saturday I take the most interesting news items and blog posts from the past week and share them here.

The big news story of the week was the Lending Club IPO. It was covered by every major business news publication in the country. Here is a list of some of these stories:
LendingClub IPO to reward Silicon Valley approach to banking from CNBC.
Lending Club, Middleman for Small Loans, Plans Stock Offering from The New York Times.
Lending Club seeks to raise more than $500m in IPO from the Financial Times.
Lending Club, the world’s largest peer-to-peer lender, files for an IPO from Fortune Magazine.
Online peer-to-peer banker LendingClub files for IPO from Reuters.
Lending Club Files for Initial Public Offering from The Wall Street Journal.
LendingClub Files For $500M IPO from Techcrunch.
Lending Club Can Be a Better Bank Than the Banks from Bloomberg View.
The Unstoppable Share Economy–LendingClub Files For $500 Million IPO from Forbes.
LendingClub’s silent backer poised for windfall from CNBC.

Then we also had the thoughts of two of the stalwarts of our community:
LendingClub – Pioneering Marketplace Lending & Reshaping Financial Services For Years to Come from Orchard.
What Making History Looks Like: Lending Club Files for IPO from LendingMemo.

Of course, there were some other articles of note this week that had nothing to do with the Lending Club IPO:

Rebuilding Real Estate With Marketplace Lending from Orchard – One of the fastest growing areas of marketplace lending is real estate and it provides perhaps the biggest opportunity of all.

Research: P2P Lending Should Focus on Partners, New Opportunities and Security from Crowdfund Insider – A look at the recent research report put together by Cognizant.

Banking Without Banks: Importance of ID Verification in P2P Lending from Trulioo – ID verification is clearly something very important to the success of all online lenders.

Could Peer-to-Peer Borrowers Be a Boon for Underused Bank Branches? from American Banker – More commentary on the Cognizant report and how banks can partner with the leading p2p lenders.

Lending Club from Inc. – Lending Club made it at #248 on the Inc. 500 list of the fastest growing private companies in America.

From the Lend Academy Forum

The Lend Academy forum is where investors go to discuss p2p lending. Below are some topics that were being discussed this week.
