Peer to Peer Lending
·Jun. 28, 2014·1 min read

During the week I share the latest p2p lending news on Twitter as it happens. Then every Saturday I take the most interesting news items and blog posts from the past week and share them here.

The biggest news this week was the story broken by the Financial Times  (free registration required) yesterday about the upcoming Lending Club IPO. They revealed that Lending Club has chosen the investment banks that will lead the offering and also the expected valuation. The news was quickly picked up by the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg and Fortune Magazine.

Here are the other stories and news I have been following this week.

An Advisor’s Guide to Peer-to-Peer Investing from WealthManagement.com – A well researched and detailed article on p2p lending from a financial advisor’s perspective.

Understanding Loan Statuses from Orchard – A detailed look at the different loan status possibilities for loans at Prosper.

The AltFi Frontline: Unheralded Developments from AltFi – Good analysis of recent developments in the UK market.

Your next investment fund neighbor could be a crowd from Pensions & Investments – There are many reasons why real estate crowdfunding is hot right now with Realty Mogul leading the way.

Upstart Loans Review – Benefiting Borrowers with Unique Underwriting from Peer & Social Lending – An excellent review of the new p2p lending kid on the block, Upstart.

Peter Renton on How the Lending Club IPO changes everything from This Week in Crowdfunding – My interview with Zack Miller who has started a new crowdfunding podcast.

How to Try Peer to Peer Lending (with $2,000) from LendingMemo – A detailed step-by-step guide for opening a new Lending Club account.

Your New Loan Officer Is Software from Forbes – More coverage of Upstart and their unique approach to this industry.

From the Lend Academy Forum

The Lend Academy forum is where investors go to discuss p2p lending. Below are some topics that were being discussed this week.

Are The Banks About To Gobble Up Peer-to-Peer Lenders? – Interesting discussion about how banks and marketplace lenders will coexist in the future.

Lending Club IPO – Discussion of the Lending Club IPO news from yesterday.

Anyone Else Notice – New investor wonders why some loans take so long to be approved and others are approved quickly.
