There is a growing need all across the financial services landscape for top tech talent and now colleges are offering specialist courses to help fill the gap; the Haas School of Business at University of California Berkeley had to add a second program recently due to interest from students; the university started a course focused on mathematical, statistical and computer science skills to succeed in modern financial markets back in 2001; of the most recent 67 students 65 received job offers, 39 percent asset management, 29 percent investment banking, 14 percent fintech and 9 percent hedge funds; even though the world is getting more automated you need the right human talent to engineer the algorithm in the first place.
