This marks a first for a UK bank to launch a biometric fingerprint card; it is currently in pilot phase with 200 customers and allows them to verify transactions which are above the £30 contactless limit; the fingerprint is registered onto the bank card directly which can be done at home, but can not be changed; the cards work with existing chip and pin terminals so no new technology is needed on the vendor side.
