PYMNTS spoke with BMO Harris Bank COO Kyle Barnett about how they are using digital technologies to improve the experience of both their customers and branch employees; they are processing deposits faster with new scanning technology, clearing checks within hours instead of days; they introduced an “easy PIN authentication” system as well as an instant-issue debit card that could be used by customers immediately; they have also introduced more self-service kiosks where customers can process simple transactions more quickly than dealing with a teller; these new technologies have benefitted customers but have also saved their branch staff between 15 and 30 minutes a day on processing forms.
