Avant Reaches FTC Settlement

Avant has settled their FTC charges for deceptive or unfair loan servicing practices; as part of the deal Avant will pay $3.85 million to consumers; the original charges included claims of duplicate charges, unauthorized charges, false advertisement relating to accepting payments on cards, not properly processing checks and violating the Telemarking Sales Rule and Electronic Fund Transfer Act; there were also accusations of inaccurate payoff amounts.
