Fintech Nexus Pivots to Digital Media, Partners With Fintech Meetup on its 2024 Event

I started in fintech back in 2010 when I began writing about my experiences as an investor in peer-to-peer lending platforms. Little did I know covering financial innovation would become a career.

First and foremost, I wanted to create a digital media company, so Renton Media was born. It was really by accident that I fell into the conference business. Today, we are announcing that Fintech Nexus is returning to its roots.

Fintech Nexus’s event sponsors and attendees will transition to Fintech Meetup

Integral to this renewed focus on digital media, Fintech Nexus will discontinue its large-scale events. We have executed an agreement with Fintech Meetup that will transfer our event sponsors and attendees over to their March event. To be clear, there will be no Fintech Nexus USA event in New York City next year as we had originally planned. Some Fintech Nexus staff have joined the Fintech Meetup team but the core team remains to focus on building the digital media business for fintech.

Fintech Nexus events will transition to Fintech Meetup

This is not a decision we took lightly. We know many of you have loved coming to Fintech Nexus events for many years. And we have loved bringing you those events. But after 10 years of doing that, it was time to move on to the next chapter. Our passion for fintech has never been stronger and we love serving the fintech community. We will now be able to serve you all year long through our many digital outlets.

Why make this move now?

For those paying close attention, you will notice that we recently acquired Fintech Blueprint, the newsletter started by industry luminary Lex Sokolin (see my recent podcast with Lex here). You will likely see more moves like this one in the coming months and years as we build a stable of leading digital offerings.

The demand for our digital media business continues to grow but until now we have not been able to give it the attention it deserves. With Fintech Meetup’s arrival on the scene, and I was very impressed with their first in-person event in March, this provided the perfect time to make this pivot.

Now, we will be more focused on providing the most comprehensive suite of digital products for the fintech space including news, analysis, education, and data.

We are not giving up events completely

Every year we get many requests from organizations in the fintech community to help them host small events. We have rejected these requests because we needed to focus our attention on our large-scale events like Fintech Nexus USA.

With this change, we will be taking on a select number of clients with our new Events-as-a-Service business, which creates a new avenue to support community-driven organizations.

The next chapter

I founded SocialLending.net in 2010 with zero readers and a passion for the promise of peer-to-peer lending. After 13 years and a great many wonderful experiences, my colleagues and I have grown this passion project into one of the world’s leading digital media companies covering financial services innovation.

Our 200,000+ subscribers and members deserve our focus and attention.

Onward!
