Orchard has released a comprehensive report analyzing platform data attributes across the marketplace lending industry; the white paper is titled, "Making Loan Data Actionable"; provides insight on varying data management strategies across the industry and explores an accounting standard for alternative marketplace loans; Orchard has taken the lead on marketplace lending data standardization due to its association with the majority of the industry's lending network. Deloitte's third quarter deal tracking report finds a 7% increase in UK deals for P2P lenders in the cumulative 12 months; third quarter of 2016 included 67 deals; deals in the UK increased 21% while deals in the remainder of Europe increased by 29%; the report tracks comprehensive deal activity including fundraising, mergers, acquisitions and partnerships for 50 alternative lenders across Europe. The People's Bank of China (PBOC) had meetings with various bitcoin exchanges this week including BTCC, OKCoin and Huobi; along with the meetings two press releases were issued; according to a translation from Coindesk, the document reads, "Bitcoin is not a currency and shouldn't be viewed as such. Those who invest in bitcoin should accordingly be aware of the risks it poses and protect their investment"; officials also reminded exchanges about complying with local state laws and other regulations.
