German Digital bank N26 has raised $160mn to fund their U.S expansion plans; Tencent and Allianz were lead investors in the round and it could set the stage for a future IPO according to N26 co-founder and CEO Valentin Stalf; “It's a good round to be as independent as possible,” Stalf said to TechCrunch. “This funding round really brings N26 to a pre-IPO stage. I think we see a clear path to a very sustainable company with this funding round. Maybe in the next five years there will be an IPO.”; the bank currently has eight staff members in NY and customers have been signing up on the waiting list since October 2017. Source.

The UK's National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers (NACFB) has lifted insurance restrictions for its brokers; it will now provide insurance coverage to its brokers for all P2P loans; "Peer-to-peer lending is booming and it's fantastic that our members can now use it as much as they like, safe in the knowledge that they enjoy protection arranged by NACFB Insurance Services," said Paul Goodman, NACFB chairman. The New York Interactive Advertising Exchange has partnered with Nasdaq to create NYIAX, a blockchain trading platform for digital advertising contracts; Nasdaq has supported the system with its trading and blockchain technology; through the system publishers and advertisers can buy, sell and re-trade digital advertising as guaranteed contracts; NYIAX says it also plans to expand trading to other advertising markets including TV, print and radio. According to Nasdaq CEO Adena Friedman, the company is open to becoming a cryptocurrency exchange; Friedman stated, "I believe that digital currencies will continue to persist it's just a matter of how long it will take for that space to mature. Once you look at it and say, 'do we want to provide a regulated market for this?' Certainly Nasdaq would consider it.”; Friedman was less bullish on the future of ICOs. Source
US stock exchange firm Nasdaq has announced the launch of Nasdaq Ventures; Nasdaq Ventures will be a venture capital investment unit of the firm; the business will focus on discovering, investing in and partnering with fintech companies globally; the business unit plans to make minority stake investments of $1 million to approximately $10 million in companies at all stages of development. Nasdaq Vice President Fredrik Voss is optimistic about the use of blockchain in capital markets trading; according to Cointelegraph, stock market transactions and the core premise of blockchain are compatible making stock market trading ideal for blockchain integration; blockchain technology could help with a number of trading factors including transparency and efficiency; according to Voss, blockchain technology is helping industry trading specialists to look at some of the market's trading problems with new options and solutions from blockchain's capabilities; while he is optimistic, Voss also says, "There is a long way to go before we see a very wide scale adoption of the technology in capital markets, but it looks more promising now than we thought three years ago."
