Santander has teamed up with Ripple to bring to market the first international money transfer app by a large retail bank based on blockchain technology; the project does not yet have a launch date but Business Insider reports the companies said in the next few months; the app will allow for transfers to be settles within 24 hours and customers will be able to understand all costs before making a transfer. UK crowdfunding platform The House Crowd has now reported five years of operations with fundraising of more than GBP44 million ($56.26 million); the platform offers property crowdfunding and P2P loan financing services; over 15,000 investors with the platform have earned over GBP9 million ($11.51 million) in returns; it has grown its staff to 20 with a number of recent additions and product expansions. Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) has announced the first members of its new regulatory sandbox: NOW Money and Tramonex; H.E. Khalid Al Rumaihi, chief executive of the Economic Development Board of Bahrain (EDB) explains to AltFi, "In addition to the development of the regulatory sandbox, we have a number of further initiatives we expect to be launched in the coming months including a venture capital fund-of-funds."; NOW Money offers users in the Gulf region mobile banking and Tramonex helps companies process and transfer funds online. With demonetization in full swing, Capital Float has expanded their loan offerings to include businesses with card machines; the new program will allow vendors to take out a loan of up to 200% of their sales; loans will then be paid back based on a small fee from each transaction; the company expects a surge in loans based upon the new government program to remove large cash notes. Funding Circle has announced a new equity investment of $100 million; the funding round was led by Accel and included existing investors Baillie Gifford, DST Global, Index Ventures, Ribbit Capital, Rocket Internet, Sands Capital Ventures, Temasek and Union Square Ventures; the funding brings the firm's total capital raised to $373 million and makes it the largest and best capitalized SME lending platform in the world. Firm has been providing working capital financing for small and medium size businesses (SME) for three years; reported working capital funding of approximately $200 million in 2016 and estimates total funding through 2017 to reach $700 million; firm primarily lends to retail, IT services, business services, media and entertainment, engineering and construction through its flexible working capital financing and Flex Credit product which offers revolving business credit lines of up to $100,000. In October 2016, Prospect Marketplace Lending Corp. filed an N-8A and an N-2 indicating the company's investment status and plans for managing a closed-end fund investing 80% of the assets in marketplace lending investments; the firm has now filed a Form 40-APP; the Form 40-APP requests permission to offer multiple share classes, each with its own fee and expense structure. Bitcoin's price has gained over 300% this year and analysts are competing for the highest price forecast; Bloomberg reports on some of the market's top analyst projections which include estimates of $6,000 by year-end, a $7,500 price target for 2018 and a target value of $25,000 by 2022; the cryptocurrency reached a record of $4,477 last week; it has a number of catalysts helping to fuel the market projections including increased transaction speeds and regulatory approval from the CFTC for bitcoin derivatives trading.
