CB Insights has released a market report on artificial intelligence; the report includes the market landscape, market statistics and an outlook for future growth; in the first quarter of 2017 the sector reported 30 artificial intelligence deals in fintech and insurtech with 48% of the deals by seed or angel investors; other highlights include $14.9 billion in equity funding from 2,250 deals since 2012, over 200 artificial intelligence acquisitions since 2012 and 11 artificial intelligence acquisitions by Google. The Prime Minister of India has announced a ban on Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes in India in an effort to fight corruption; P2P platform i2iFunding says the ban will help P2P lenders by reducing cash-based lending in the country and requiring citizens to utilize digital finance solutions; earlier in 2016 the Reserve Bank of India said it would be issuing guidelines for P2P lenders; i2iFunding says the focus on cash-based corruption will now be the central bank's focus; in October, leading P2P lenders formed the Alternate Finance and P2P Lenders Association; founding members Monexo, Lend-Box, LoanMeet, i-lend and Faircent have been the most active. LendingOne has launched a lending system for fix and flip lenders in the real estate industry; according to the firm's press release, the platform provides originators with advanced technology to streamline all aspects of the loan-underwriting, closing and servicing processes; with the launch, private lenders can now utilize the LendingOne system to offer more competitive pricing for borrowers; through the system lenders can also subordinate a portion of fix and flip real estate loans.
