Credible is a marketplace for student loans that operates in the US; The listing would value the company at more than $300 million; Stephen Dash, Credible's founder will be pitching to fund managers this week in a road show; sources have said the company is seeking to raise $67.5 million. Source

SoftBank Considers $500M Investment in ZhongAn IPO

SoftBank Vision Fund is considering a $500 million investment in the Hong Kong IPO of ZhongAn Insurance, Thomson Reuters’ publication IFR cited people close to the deal; the fund is likely to be a cornerstone investor in ZhongAn’s up to $1.5 billion IPO, which is expected to launch as early as Sept. 18; SoftBank and ZhongAn declined to comment when contacted by Reuters. Capital One Employees Move to Flagstar Bank

Capital One announced last year that they were exiting the mortgage and home equity originations business; some of those employees are landing at Flagstar bank to expand their direct lending operation; Kristy Fercho, president of mortgage for Flagstar stated, “Capital One built a best-in-class digital platform, so we are excited about attracting this proven, high-caliber team in the direct-to-consumer space to Flagstar.” Source

New Loan Trading Rule Increases the Speed of Corporate Loan Settlements

Corporate loan trading has historically been a manual process involving millions of emails annually between buyers, sellers and borrowers making it difficult to automate; however new technologies, including blockchain, have been advancing with potential solutions for automation; a new rule which went into effect last September has helped to increase transaction and settlement times; the new rule provides a compensation incentive for faster loan settlement and has improved the average settlement time by four days; the faster settlement has caused many fintech innovators to change their focus from settlement automation to process efficiency.  Source

Credit China Fintech Plans Near-Term Investment

Credit China Fintech plans to expand its investments in peer-to-peer lending and payment companies; it invests in companies in the fintech industry and has recently invested in Ping An Securities Group Holdings Ltd. and blockchain technology firm BitFury Group Ltd.; recent investments have caused some scrutiny from short seller Anonymous Analytics which negatively affected the stock price in December 2016; the firm's stock price has regained its value since then with a current market capitalization of approximately $3 billion; over the past three years the firm has raised HK$4.3 billion ($554 million) and it plans to acquire at least one more company in the first quarter of 2017.  Source

Only 8% of Fintech Companies Have Female Directors

According to new research by the global headhunting firm DHR International, fintech companies have only 8% women directors as compared to the top 30 banks in the world who collectively have 22% women directors; while many fintech companies see their culture as more inclusive and diverse, the data shows the opposite; formerly of JPMorgan Chase and now CEO at Digital Asset Holdings, Blythe Masters understands the importance of workplace diversity, "I know what our company would look like if we weren't consciously thinking about this issue — we would only have one female director."  Source
