The business press have focused this week on Deutsche Bank, amid rumors they will require government action to stay viable in their current circumstances; trigger issue is US government seeking a US$14 billion fine over the 2008-2009 centered subprime mortgage crisis; rumors vary on whether Deutsche and German government are working on a crisis plan and/or considering government financial support; comparisons are proposed to that period's bailout of "too big to fail" Lehman Brothers. Brexit Could Require Parliament Approval

The British High Court ruled on Thursday that Parliament must give its approval for Brexit, creating uncertainty on whether or not the UK will leave the European Union; plans for exiting the EU were to begin in March; the government now has appealed the High Court's decision to the Supreme Court which will consider the appeal in December; if the ruling is upheld speculators believe Parliament would continue with the same sentiment that its voters reported in June.  Source

Nasdaq CEO Comments on Becoming Cryptocurrency Exchange

According to Nasdaq CEO Adena Friedman, the company is open to becoming a cryptocurrency exchange; Friedman stated, "I believe that digital currencies will continue to persist it's just a matter of how long it will take for that space to mature. Once you look at it and say, 'do we want to provide a regulated market for this?' Certainly Nasdaq would consider it.”; Friedman was less bullish on the future of ICOs. Source

The UK’s biggest robo-advisor has seen assets under management grow to over $798mn and customers exceed 25,000 at the end of 2016; however the company also reported a 5 percent increase in losses and a 10 percent increase in operating expenses; building up scale to eventually make money looks to be the biggest challenge for the growing fintech company.
