The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is proposing that they include P2P platforms in the review of the high cost credit industry; the city watchdog said in a release that there is currently a gap in the regulations for P2P; according to the watchdog this means creditworthiness requirements will be enacted when there is a "significant increase in the amount of credit or the credit limit under a P2P agreement"; the FCA explained further changes could come after this initial review period ends on October 31; John Coley, financial services risk director at PwC, explained to Peer2Peer Finance News, "The FCA has published proposals that potentially have a significant impact on firms operating in the consumer credit sector, these include proposed changes for assessing creditworthiness, feedback on its rules limiting so-called payday-loans, and insights into its continuing work into the motor vehicle finance sector." South East Asia SME marketplace lender First Circle has announced new funding that will help it further develop its business in South East Asia; the firm was the first to begin lending to SMEs in South East Asia offering its loans in the Philippines; it provides loans for underserved businesses through use of a proprietary underwriting system; the firm says it will use the new investment funding to further develop its technology platform and lending business in the Philippines. Finexcap, an online invoice financing platform, has partnered with Sage to expand its customer base; through the partnership the two firms have created Sage Clic&Cash; Sage Clic&Cash will offer invoice financing to approximately 600,000 small business clients using the software product Sage or Ciel. SoFi has partnered with Fannie Mae to help its customers pay down student loan debt using home equity; already focused on student loans, SoFi's new Student Loan Payoff ReFi will allow homeowners to refinance their home and simultaneously pay student loan debt; with home equity, borrowers can combine their mortgage and student loans to make one loan payment on their debt. BorrowersFirst has secured $100 million in new debt funding from Waterfall Asset Management; firm will use the funding primarily to support lending volume growth for its online consumer loan business; firm funds its loans through on-balance sheet debt facilities and whole loan sales with originations by Cross River Bank. Mosaic has announced the closing of its Mosaic Solar Loans 2017-1 securitization portfolio which resulted in proceeds of $138.95 million; Guggenheim Securities and BNP Paribas were the lead arrangers on the deal; Mosaic specializes in solar loans with over $1 billion originated on the platform since its launch.
