Fintech has helped to open new opportunities all across the financial services landscape in recent years and now real estate investing is becoming as easy as a few clicks; buying a home as an investment property was reserved for the wealthy until recently; fintech firms like Roofstock and Compound provide access to rental properties with minimal minimum investment; part of the growth in this new market can be traced back to yields on the 10 year U.S. Treasury Note being stuck at or below 2 percent; these new investments are providing high single digit returns in most cases but the companies warn investors this is not a get rich quick scheme; most of the sites tell investors to hold for five or more years to see the best return; there is also a fair amount of risk involved as home prices could flatten or investors could be on the hook for other costs that come with rental market properties.
