Innovate Finance is out with numbers on UK fintech investments in the first quarter sourced from Pitchbook; overall investments totaled $1 billion, up 41% from Q4 2018; compared to the prior year period, investments have quadrupled; while the amount invested in fintech is increasing, the number of deals are declining showing that investors are targeting more established firms; OakNorth contributed significantly to total amount raised after raising $440 million from Softbank; Starling Bank also raised $100 million in Q1.
