N26 and Younited Credit Partner for Credit Offering in France

The partnership will allow N26 to offer consumer credit in France; N26 currently has similar features built out in other European markets where users answer a few questions within the app; the app then provides a quote that allows users to adjust the term of the loan or the payback amount; users will not be required to signup through Younited Credit as everything is managed through an API. Environmentally Sustainable Lending on the Blockchain

New Cambridge Center Reports Hows Wider Acceptance of Alternative Lending in UK

The Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance’s new report Entrenching Innovation showed that the UK online alternative finance market grew 46 percent in 2016; investors surveyed by the report said that online platforms offering debt based products were on equal footing to that of typical fixed income assets but more transparent; industry veterans say this points to the long term chances of the market and its wider acceptance in broader financial services. RateSetter Sees Losses Jump on Bad Loan

RateSetter saw pre tax losses jump to $31mn from $7.1mn due to a bad loan to an advertising company; RateSetter also saw revenues jump by 38 percent as well as increases in customers and borrowers; the bad loan was absorbed by the lender as they explained it fell outside their credit policy and it was unfair to put the losses on their investors. Starling Bank Receives Full FCA Authorization

UK Based Starling Bank has been granted approval by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority to offer financial products; the new authorizations will allow the bank to offer mortgages, consumer loans, ISAs and other investment products; they are the first mobile only bank to be granted such permissions.
