Dan Schulman Talks with McKinsey about Inclusive Finance

PayPal CEO Dan Schulman is committed to helping support and promote financial inclusion by democratizing financial services and making banking activities more broadly available to everyone; the company is well positioned to support this initiative with more than six billion transactions occurring on its platform annually; Schulman provides some metrics around the benefits of digital transactions noting that the typical underserved population spends 10% of its disposable income on unnecessary fees and interest rates and with technology the cost of basic transactions can be lowered by as much as 80% to 90%.

Monzo Talks Third Party Marketplace and Future

Though Monzo has seen a share of issues and outages recently the company says the third party marketplace is core to their vision; they also explained it was a key part of their revenue drive and will help to drive down costs per customers in the near future; Monzo have plans to expand product offerings, potentially launch in the US and build out partnerships in the near and mid term future. Yahoo Finance Launches Savings App

Yahoo Finance launched a new savings app called Tanda which allows groups of five or nine people to save money; the app pools money from the group each month and each member of the group gets access to the pool at different months; the company charges a fee on the first two payouts but offers a bonus to users who can wait for the money; the pool can reach $2,000 and Tanda has partnered with Dwolla to vet users. Ranger Direct Lending Fund Plans for More Share Issuances

The Ranger Direct Lending Fund has reported plans for share issuance totaling 200 million British pounds through 2017; the Fund currently has a 40 million British pound issuance planned for December; it also raised 30 million British pounds in July and 23.2 million British pounds in November of 2016; according to a statement from Ranger Direct Lending, "The company believes that debt instruments originated or issued by direct lending platforms are an attractive and growing asset class that have the potential to provide higher returns for investors than other, more widely available, fixed income products."; growth from the asset class and potential returns are factors driving the new issuances.  Source
