BondMason has increased its minimum investment for new investors from GBP1,000 ($1,278) to GBP5,000 ($6,392) and will institute the change for existing clients beginning on July 31; a new tiered fee structure will also be introduced beginning on May 31 for all investors; according to BondMason's CEO Stephen Findlay, "This structure puts us in line with other investment services and is to reflect our commitment to client services, which was sadly proving uneconomic for clients with smaller balances."; BondMason's service allows UK investors to invest in multiple marketplace loans through a single account. Kabbage is an online lender in the small business space; today they announced they would not fund “any business that we identify as a seller of firearms or ammunition to individuals under 21 or that sell or manufacture any form of assualt-style weapon.”; according to a written statement signed by the executives, “As parents and leaders of Kabbage we simply cannot imagine the grief of families who too often have been stricken by gun violence like the tragedy in Parkland, Florida. The technology community must work to prevent these horrifying and heartbreaking events from robbing our children of their future.”; Kabbage is also supporting the Parkland survivors’ March 14 walkout and also announced charitable contributions. New regulations on asset management will increase capital that institutions have to hold in China; these regulations will significantly affect bank and nonbank relationships; banks have repackaged loans and transferred them to brokerages and other lenders which eventually make their way to investors; last year these transactions totaled $3.5 trillion in off-balance sheet lending according to the Wall Street Journal; one example of a lender that has been fined is China Guangfa Bank which turned loans going sour into high yield investments.
