Daily Fintech reports that Tradeplus24 has received CHF100 million ($100.61 million) from a capital fundraising; the Swiss fintech market has been growing over the last two years and the CHF100 million is a sign of that; Tradeplus24 is a Switzerland-based balance sheet marketplace lender; the capital was raised through debt and the firm will use the fundraising for SME lending. Former Goldman Sachs banker Mona El Isa has founded an asset management services company that will provide blockchain solutions for hedge funds; El Isa launched Melonport in February 2016 with co-founder Reto Trinkler and has now hired George Hallam, former head of external communications at the Ethereum Foundation; El Isa's hedge fund services will use smart contracts to automate various aspects of portfolio management for hedge fund managers which will lower the costs of building a hedge fund. Crowdlending platform Lend raised CHF3.5 million ($3.47 million) from Polytech Ecosystem Ventures and other angel investors; the round will help the platform to continue building out their brand, upgrading their automation and increasing their marketing spend for Switzerland; Lend launched in January of 2016 and has thus far funded 300 loans; in addition to the funding Lend was also able to secure two new team members, Dr. Stefan Jaecklin, former head of Oliver Wyman Switzerland, and Dr. Luzius Anderegg, senior software developer at software company Ergon Informatik. The Federal Council of Switzerland is seeking to make the regulatory framework more flexible for fintech companies; they have instructed the Federal Department of Finance to devise a policy statement setting such a direction; recommendations to be considered include: (a) setting a maximum of 60 days for holding money in a settlement account, which will make settlements better aligned with crowdfunding project funding deadlines, (b) creating of an innovation sandbox in which a platform can accept funds up to CHF 1 million, and (c) establishing a new fintech license, with fewer restrictions than on traditional banks.
