Banks are starting to experiment with different customer service chatbots like Facebook Messenger and Twitter; with this move comes potential security risks and the question of risks for the customer; The Conversation points out that a research report by The Centre for Communications Interface Research (CCIR) shows that customers are willing to give up some security for convenience; chatbots will need to provide a sense of convenience and a sense of trust to ultimately be widely accepted by the broad consumer; additional research by the World Retail Banking Report shows that while consumers are accepting their banking life being digital they are still looking for face to face interaction with more complex problems; finding the right balance is the key as more banks move into fuller digital offerings. China and Hong Kong have raised $3.03 billion in proptech since 2013; this is approximately 41% of the total investment in proptech across the globe; the startups are focused on brokerage and leasing, investment and financing, project development and property management; half of the startups are in brokerage and leasing; article shares what has led to the current robust proptech market in Asia Pacific. Online lender Welendus has announced a Seedrs campaign with targeted fundraising of 300,000 British pounds ($375,060); firm provides short term financing options at affordable rates; plans to launch in the first quarter of 2017. Source
Zopa will reduce its high risk loan exposure following reports on the UK market's consumer credit outlook; data shows consumer defaults and insolvency levels are increasing; the firm says it will seek to target more low risk borrowers; the changes will allow it to offer higher returns in some of its leading products; the company plans to publish a monthly blog post with its perspective on the consumer credit market. P2P lender TWINO has reached 100 million euros ($107.53 million) in cumulative lending shortly after a new expansion to Russia; firm is the first P2P lender to offer Russian consumer loans; in 2016 platform growth was fueled by demand from all of its Eastern Europe regions specifically with increased interest from its UK investors; in 2017 TWINO expects lending volume of over 200 million euros ($215.05 million).
