London-based technology company Misys has plans for an IPO; the company had planned to offer its stock in 2016 but decided against its IPO and now says it could still be a possibility; the firm's CEO Nadeem Syed said it is currently focusing on its new machine learning and P2P lending products; earlier in January it announced a new P2P lending solution for banks, FusionBanking Crowdlending; currently it offers its clients a broad range of solutions through its FusionBanking products and its targeting existing clients with its new products. Borrowell, a marketplace lender focused on consumer loans, has been in business for approximately two years in Canada with a lot of growth in the small, developing Canadian P2P industry; Lend Academy interviews Borrowell's CEO and Co-Founder Andrew Graham in their podcast; discussion focuses primarily on Borrowell's business model and the company's announcement of the country's first marketplace lending partnership with a major bank; Borrowell has partnered with CIBC in a co-branded partnership that offers consumer loans to CIBC's customers. Jiedaibao, launched by JD Capital, would give people looking to engage in debt recovery all kinds of personal data belonging to overdue debtors, including phone numbers, addresses and even ID card numbers; releasing this kind of information would allow for any freelance debt collector to harass borrowers into paying their overdue amounts; this type of practice in China is not all that unusual as past debt collection efforts have discussed the release of nude photos if payments are missed; the agreement would give the "debt collector" 40% of the debt paid. Small business P2P lender Lendix has announced expansion to Italy; based in Paris the Italy expansion follows expansion to Spain in 2016; Lendix has hired Sergio Zocchi who will be the CEO for the new Italy business based in Milan; as of December 31, 2016 Lendix had originated 57 million euros ($61.01 million) in loans; it is also rumored that the firm plans to continue its expansion across Europe in 2017 with a new office potentially opening in the UK. SBI Ripple Asia this summer announced plans for a Japanese blockchain development consortia; now, it says interest from banks has been so high that they are launching in November 2016 with 47 member banks, as opposed to an originally planned launch in March 2017 with 30 banks; the participants will be working first on a proof of concept for real-time remittance and cross-border payments; participants include Mizuho, Bank of Yokohama and SBI Sumishin Net Bank.
