China’s fintech behemoth Ant Financial is changing its name; Ant Financial Services Group has received approval to change its name to Ant Technology Group Co., with the company saying it wants to be known in English as Ant Group Co.; they are deemphasizing the financial services piece as they see themselves as more of a technology company today; they have often preferred to be known as “techfin” rather than fintech and this name change makes that point clearly.
